Hi! I’m Salima! I have an open mind and treat each individual situation as is. I think it’s important for people to be able to express themselves in a non-judgmental space. My motto to life is “Smile, it’s free” and that kind of contradicts how I approach therapy. I approach treatment with “It’s okay to cry, be upset, and angry, but let’s learn tools to not live in those feelings.” Smiling is free but sometimes depression and anxiety doesn’t know that and that’s okay. In my free time I enjoy reading and going on adventures with my family like hiking.
I received a B.A. in English with a Minor in Speech and Language Pathology and then went on to get my Masters of Science in Mental Health Counseling. I got into therapy because I feel that everyone should have a non-bias ear. I feel like it’s a calling. I love when a client tells me that a tool they’ve been practicing worked or when they start to notice changed behaviors. I think understanding the client and also being attuned with my own biases helps build the bridge with clients. I look forward to building one with you
